Prayagraj: SHO suspended, 5 detained after student beaten to death for opposing molestation with sister

Prayagraj: The victim was returning home from school with his sister when he was attacked by the students studying in the same school.

The authority swung into action after a student was beaten to death for opposing molestation of his sister in Prayagraj's Kheri area on Monday. SHO of the area was suspended and the police detained five accused in the matter. Youths from a particular community have been accused of murder. Angered by this incident, people came to the road and held a protest demanding justice.

The student, a resident of Pura Dattu village of Kheri police station area, 50 km from Prayagraj, was in Class 10 at Parmanand Inter College Kheri. On Monday, he had an altercation with some students at the school over molestation with his sister. When he was returning home from school with his sister, they tried to molest her. On this, Sharma opposed them but they started beating him brutally. They attacked his head with a wood due to which he died on the spot. The accused fled after the incident. When the relatives came to know about the incident, they reached the spot to him to hospital where he declared brought death.

After the incident, the angry villagers blocked the Kheeri intersection demanding the arrest of the accused due to this the traffic came to a standstill. 

As a precautionary move, a large number of forces have been deployed in the area to control the situation. The police started investigating the matter. Angered by the non-arrest of the accused, the villagers sat on a dharna on the road from noon to midnight. Late night commissioner Ramit Sharma reached the spot and somehow pacified the people by assuring action.
