PM Modi in Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (June 18) reached Varanasi, his first visit after his re-election to the office in the Lok Sabha Elections, and addressed the people. He released the 17th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme in Varanasi. This will provide benefits amounting to over Rs.20,000 crore to more than 9.26 crore farmers.
"Maa Ganga has adopted me, I have become one from here. I will work very hard like this day and night to fulfil your dreams and aspirations," he said in his first address in Varanasi after his re-election. The Prime Minister beat Congress candidate Ajay Rai on the seat.
"I consider farmers, youth, women power and poor strong pillars of Viksit Bharat. I took the first decision related to farmers and the poor after taking charge," PM Modi added.
PM Modi lauds Indian elections
The Prime Minister lauded the recently concluded general elections in the country and said that it has happened for the first time in 60 years that a government has returned to power for the third time in a row.
"More than 31 crore women voters have participated in this election. This is the highest number of women voters in the world. This number is close to the entire population of America. This beauty, this strength of Indian democracy attracts and influences the whole world. I thank every voter of Varanasi for making the festival of democracy a success. The people of Kashi have not only elected an MP but also a PM for the third time. The mandate given by the people of the country in this election is truly unprecedented. This mandate has created a new history. It is rarely seen in the democratic countries of the world that an elected government returns for the third consecutive time. But this time the people of India have also done this. This happened in India 60 years ago. Since then no government in India has scored a hat-trick like this..." he said.
"This trust of yours is my biggest asset. This trust of yours inspires me to work hard for your service and to take the country to new heights. I will work hard day and night. I will make every effort to fulfil your dreams and your resolutions. I have considered farmers, youth, women and the poor as the strong pillars of developed India. I have started my third term with their empowerment. As soon as the government was formed, the first decision was taken related to farmers and poor families. Whether it is building 3 crore new houses for poor families across the country or taking forward the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, these decisions will help crores of people. Today's program is also going to strengthen this path of developed India. Rs 20,000 crore of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi have reached the bank accounts of crores of farmers across the country..." he added.
PM Modi on role of agriculture India's future
The Prime Minister said that agriculture system has a big role to play in making India the third largest economy in the world.
"When there is a right intention, will to serve, work for farmer welfare is done with such pace. Agriculture system has a big role to play in making India the third largest economy. We have to keep global market in view. We have to excel in agriculture export," he said.
PM Modi on packaged food
He said that the country has to be taken to greater heights in global market of packaged food.
"We have to take the country to new heights in the global market in terms of packaged food. It's my dream that there must be some Indian food product on every dining table in the world," he said.
