Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday registered a win in Varanasi constituency for third time in a row after 2014 and 2019. PM Modi got 612970 votes with a margin of 152513 against Congress Ajay Rai and and the BSP has nominated Athar Jamal Lari. Elections in Varanasi was held on June 1 in the seventh and last round of the general elections.
PM Modi who has been representating the Varanasi constituency had also won the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
In 204, during the campaign, Modi focused on corruption scandals under the previous Congress government, and played on his image as a politician who had created a high rate of GDP growth in Gujarat. He projected himself as a person who could bring about "development" without focusing on specific policies.[209] His message found support among young and middle-class people.
PM Modi contested the Lok Sabha election as a candidate for Varanasi in 2019 and won the seat by a margin of 479,505 votes by defeating Shalini Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), who stood as a candidate for the SP-BSP alliance.
