Lok Sabha elections 2024: Hundreds of drones fled over Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi today in order to display the progress report and development work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government. The drone show, which began on Thursday, will continue till May 12 (Sunday).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be filing his nomination papers from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on May 14 (Tuesday) and before filling his nomination papers, he will hold a massive roadshow in his parliamentary constituency on May 13 (Monday).
The social media co-convenor of BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Shashi Shekhar posted on X, "Hundreds of drones will fly over Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi depicting the development work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi government from May 9 to 12"
PM to pay tribute to Madan Mohan Malviya statue ahead of roadshow
Before commencing the roadshow, PM Modi will first pay tribute to the Madan Mohan Malviya statue at the main gate of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Lanka. The roadshow will go until Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. The high-voltage roadshow is likely to see the participation of lakhs of workers from the party.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the roadshow of PM Modi. In the Lok Sabha management committee meeting which was held in Varanasi, regional president Dileep Patel said that PM Modi's roadshow will start by garlanding the Malviya statue in Lanka.
"It will go to the Vishwanath Corridor via Assi, Sonarpura, Jangam Bari, Godaulia, and Bansphatak," he added.
PM Modi will be given a grand welcome during this. Responsibilities are being assigned to the workers to make the road show historic. Meetings of all the assembly constituencies in the Varanasi parliamentary constituency have been organised. After this, meetings will be held with workers in all 21 divisions in one day. The organisation is busy preparing with the target of participation of lakhs of workers in this roadshow.
PM Modi vs Ajay Rai
Varanasi is the stronghold of the Prime Minister. He won the seat twice- the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Congress has pitted Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai against PM Modi in Varanasi. This is the third time that Ajay Rai will face PM Modi in a Lok Sabha contest.
2019 poll results
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, PM Modi won the seat with over 674,664 votes and commanded a vote share of 63.6 per cent. Earlier in 2014, PM Modi fought on two Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat's Vadodara and the second was Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi.The Varanasi seat comprises five Assembly segments including Rohaniya, Varanasi North, Varanasi South, Varanasi Cantt, and Sevapuri.
The voting for the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency will be held in the seventh phase of the elections on June 1 (Saturday). The counting of the votes will be held on June 4 (Tuesday).
Preparations underway in Varanasi for grand roadshow
Hectic preparations are going on for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mega roadshow on May 13 in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency from where he is seeking re-election.
Who will welcome PM Modi in Varanasi?
People from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal and other states, settled in Varanasi, will be at the forefront of the crowds that will greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his roadshow.
On May 14, when PM Modi files his nomination for a third term from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, BJP leaders, including Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, BJP chief JP Nadda and Chief Ministers of all National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-governed states will be present on the occasion.
BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal is holding marathon meetings with members of different communities to decide their individual place on the roadshow route. He is also holding meetings with poll managers and teams being engaged to finalise preparations at the central election office in Mahmoorganj.
Spots to welcome Prime Minister
All points between the Malviya statue in Lanka and Kashi Vishwanath Dham were being discussed to decide spots to be given to different communities and organisations that will welcome the Prime Minister. The points from where flower petals would be showered have also been decided.
Door-to-door invitations sent
Bansal said the proposed roadshow would be historic and set a new trend. He has asked all public representatives and senior BJP office-bearers along with booth committees to go door to door and invite the people of Kashi to be part of the roadshow.
