Acharya Satyendra Das, chief priest of Ram Janmabhoomi on Thursday responded to Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut as he linked the invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the consecration ceremony of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya to the elections, saying it is not a matter of politics but the belief.

"People talk as per their mindset. Raut can see only elections. The pran pratishtha is a matter of faith, of belief, of devotion and the PM has been invited for it," Das said.

Earlier too, the PM had performed the groundbreaking ceremony and bhumi pujan, he added.

This is not about sacrifices, this is about devotion and belief, the priest asserted.

"As far as politics and elections are concerned, they will come and go but all political parties should understand that PM has blessings of Lord Ram. That is why he is in power and will continue to do so. Those who oppose Lord Ram are roaming on the streets and will continue to do so," he added.

What did Raut say?

Raut said there was no need to invite Narendra Modi as the PM would go by himself.

"He is the PM, he would definitely go. Why would anyone leave such a big event? Ram Mandir was supposed to be built. Thousands of karsevaks have given their lives for it. All Hindutvavadi organisations and parties were involved. Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad were there... LK Advani took out a Rath Yatra. It is the result of all of this that Ram Mandir is being built," he added.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said he thought this was part of the preparation for the elections.
