An Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer has been arrested by the Noida Police in connection with the death of a woman found at his apartment in Lotus Boulevard Society, Sector 100. The woman, Shilpa Gautam, an HR official at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), was discovered hanging from a cloth rope in the officer's flat on Saturday. Upon receiving the report, police from Sector 39, along with forensic experts, rushed to the scene to gather information and evidence. They also contacted Gautam's family to inform them about the incident and to collect statements.
Family's Accusations
Gautam's family accused the IRS officer, identified as Saurabh Meena, of deceit and physical abuse. They alleged that Meena, who had been in a relationship with Gautam for three years after meeting on a dating app, had promised to marry her but did not fulfil the promise, leading to frequent arguments.
Arrest and legal action
Following the family's allegations, the police registered a case and arrested Meena. He has been sent to judicial custody. Additional DCP (Noida) Manish Kumar told ANI, "We received information about the suicide of a woman in Lotus Boulevard Society of Noida Sector 100. The family filed a request to take action against Saurabh, with whom she was residing. The accused has been apprehended and a case has been registered under relevant IPC sections. Further investigation is underway."
