Meerut: A compressor exploded at cold storage in Meerut on Friday. Due to the explosion, several workers are suspected to get stuck under the lenter at the site. As per reports, many are reported injured. Whereas, 7 people died in the unfortunate incident. The rescue operation is underway and being carried out by police and locals. It is said the lenter plunged due to the explosion.
Roof collapsed after explosion
Deepak Meena, DM Meerut informed that the roof collapsed after the explosion in cold storage. As of now, 12 workers have been rescued and 6 injured were admitted to the hospital. He further said that the other 25 labours are inside the cold storage and they are confirming the numbers of workers.

Selva Kumari, Divisional Commissioner on Friday claimed that 3 deaths have been reported and several were injured after the roof collapsed of under-construction cold storage in Duarala.

Seven people Killed
As per latest updates, at least seven people were killed and 30 sustained injuries after an under-construction roof of a cold storage collapsed in Daurala here on Friday, police said.
Senior administrative and police officials along with a team of the National Disaster Response Force have rushed to the spot, police said, adding 27 people have been rescued from under the rubble and efforts are on to find others.
Meerut District Magistrate Deepak Meena said,"Seven workers at the site were killed when the roof collapsed. Twenty seven workers have been rescued and shifted to hospital." "We have formed a committee and sought a report on the incident within 24 hours. Further action will be taken on the basis of its findings," added the DM.
Circle Officer Ashish Sharma said, "An under-construction roof of a cold storage collapsed. Workers and labourers working there were buried under the rubble."Police are yet to identify the deceased and the reason behind the collapse is being ascertained, officials said.
