As the counting of votes for the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh and across India progresses, an important meeting is being held at the residence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Significantly, this high-level meeting comes amidst the neck-to-neck fight witnessed between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh.
While, according to the ECI, the BJP won three of the total 80 seats in the state and is leading on 30 seats, the Congress party, on the other hand, has so far claimed victory over one seat and is leading on five seats. Significantly, all eyes have been glued on the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party, which is currently leading on 36 seats and has so far won one seat.
Meanwhile, the ECI has declared the result for the Uttar Pradesh's hotly contested Varanasi seat from where PM Modi for the record third time registered his historic win. PM Modi won with a margin of 152513 votes against Congress candidate Ajay Rai and BSP candidate Athar Jamal Lari.
