Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his "mujra" remark targeting the I.N.D.I.A bloc. She said he calls the nation as his family but the family head has a respect for each other (aankho ki sharam) and that no prime minister has ever used such words for opposition leaders in the history of the country.
During an election rally in UP’s Gorakhpur, she said that the entire country respects the post of the PM and it is his responsibility to maintain the dignity of the post.
She said, "But the way he (Modi) is speaking today, the sad thing is that his reality has been exposed." Moreover, Vadra questioned PM Modi’s stance of calling the entire country his family. "Family members always have respect for each other (anko ki sharam) that should not be lost, that should always be kept," she said.
Calling PM Modi nervous, Priyanka said that he has forgotten him being a representative of the country and of people.
She said, "Your faith and your hopes were once attached to Narendra Modi, but isn't it the responsibility of the prime minister to maintain the dignity of the post?" she added.
Priyanka rakes unemployment issue
Meanwhile, she also said that the unemployment in the country is the highest in 45 years. Calling it the biggest problem she asked people. “Does Modi ji talk about this? Have you heard the word unemployment from Modi ji? Has the time now come for Prime Minister Modi to tell what unemployment is?"
Notably, addressing rallies in neighbouring Bihar, Modi asserted on Saturday that he will foil opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc's "plans" to snatch the quota of SCs, STs and OBCs and divert these to Muslims.
"They (the opposition bloc) may remain enslaved and perform 'mujra' to please their vote bank," the PM said.
Priyanka responded to his statement at a joint election rally accompanied by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Gorakhpur. She was campaigning in support of the coalition candidate Kajal Nishad and Bansgaon candidate Sadal Prasad.
What PM Modi said?
At his rally in Bihar, PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the opposition alliance 'INDIA' and accused it of doing "slavery" and "mujra" for the Muslim vote bank.
"Bihar is the land which has given a new direction to the fight for social justice. I want to announce on its soil that I will foil the plans of the 'INDI' coalition to loot the rights of SC, ST and OBC and give them to Muslims”. “They can remain slaves and do 'Mujra' to please their vote bank" , he added.
