Amid the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday remarked that Muslims are realising they've been used as pawns by the Congress and INDIA bloc, highlighting that they are increasingly coming towards the BJP due to its development initiatives.
Speaking at a public meeting, backing the BJP candidate in Dhaurahra, PM Modi noted the shifting support of the poor and marginalised communities, including SC, ST, and OBC groups, away from the Congress and opposition alliance towards the BJP.
Further, in an apparent attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, PM Modi said, "Politics of appeasement has become compulsory for the existence of 'shehzade' of SP and Congress."
PM Modi further added that the Muslim community is also coming to the BJP after seeing the development done without any prejudice.
During the rally, the PM was accompanied by Dhaurahra MP Rekha Verma, MP from Lakhimpur Ajay Mishra Teni, BJP state president Bhupendra Chaudary and party's candidate from Sitapur Rajesh Verma.
Meanwhile, in Dhaurahra, the BJP has fielded incumbent MP Rekha Verma. She is set to contest against Anand Bhadauriya of the Samajwadi Party and Shyam Kishore Awasthi of the Bahujan Samaj Party. Significantly, the parliamentary constituency (Dhaurahra) is scheduled to go on polls May 13 in the fourth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
