In yet another public mode of transport, Uttar Pradesh's Yamuna Authority has approved India's first Pod Taxi project's revised DPR and bid document. The central government company said the DPR for Pod Taxi was prepared by Indian Ports Railroad and Cable Car Limited. According to the Hindustan Times, the inspection committee formed by the PPP government also examined the DPR. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) has chosen to expand its ambitious Pod Taxi project’s route to Greater Noida's Pari Chowk.
Earlier, it delivered a project report for a 12-kilometer case taxi route interfacing Noida International Greenfield Airport at Jewar with Sector 21, where the Film City project is proposed. Yeida likewise issued a tender last month, inviting companies to offer on the project.
Subsequently, seven globally presumed companies participated in the offering system, aiming to assume control over the project. As per authorities, any company keen on taking on the Pod Taxi's 12 km project can apply for a tender until August 10; on August 16, Yeida will open bids for this ₹641 crore project.
Mega projects will have 12 stations
As per the final detailed project report (DPR), there will be 12 stations on the 12-kilometer road connecting the two mega projects in the Yeda region. Film City, Rabupura village, Sector 34, junction of sectors 28 and 33, Toy Park, intersection of sectors 29 and 32 (on a 100-meter-wide road), Apparel Park, Sector 29, junction of sectors 29 and 32 (on a 75-meter-wide road), MSME Park, and Handicraft Park will be among the 12 stations along the route.
Completion target of project
As indicated by authorities, the authority desires to finish the pod taxi project by the end of 2024, when the first phase of the Jewar air terminal is supposed to be functional. As per authorities, once stretched out to Pari Chowk, the Pod Taxi project will traverse something like 25 kilometers from Jewar to Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk.
Travelers' capacity and fare
As indicated by the authorities, each station will have a pod taxi service with a recurrence of 20 seconds, and the venture is supposed to see 37,000 travelers each day who will be charged ₹8 per kilometer. The Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Limited informed Yeida in March 2023 about the Pod taxi projects in South Korea, London, and Abu Dhabi.
