Gorakhpur railway station redevelopment: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Gorakhpur railway station redevelopment project on July 7 (Friday). The station is set to be redeveloped at a cost of around Rs. 498 crores and will provide world-class passenger amenities.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will accompany the Prime Minister during his visit to Gorakhpur.

Ahead of PM Modi's visit, CM Yogi on Tuesday inspected the venues and directed officials to complete all preparations in time.

Gorakhpur to get Vande Bharat Express train service

Apart from laying the foundation stone for Gorakhpur station redevelopment project, PM Modi is likely to flag off new Vande Bharat Express train on Friday. With this, Uttar Pradesh will receive its second Vande Bharat Express -- the train's first mini version -- that will connect Lucknow to Gorakhpur via Ayodhya.

"We expect that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the train operation; however, we are yet to receive assent from the PMO office," a source said.

To ensure financial feasibility on shorter routes, the Indian Railways recently introduced a mini version of Vande Bharat Express which comprises eight coaches instead of 16.
