Ghaziabad: A massive fire broke out in an apartment of a residential society in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad on Friday morning. The incident took place at the Panchsheel Wellington Society of Crossing Republik police station area.
The fire broke out on the ninth floor at a flat in a high-rise society in Crossing Republik. The belongings inside the house were completely incinerated in the fire. Luckily, a resident of the flat managed to escape in time.
Goods worth lakhs burnt in fire
The fire department received the first information about the fire in the Crossing Republic area at around 7:28 am. The fire department team arrived at the scene promptly upon receiving the information and successfully extinguished the fire.
The fire equipment installed in the society failed to extinguish the fire. After which the residents called the fire department. The fire department team that reached the spot saw that strong flames along with black smoke were visible rising from the balcony of the flat. The fire unit started firefighting from the balcony of the adjacent flat and brought the fire under control.
Fortunately, there were no casualties in the fire, but merchandise worth lakhs was reduced to ashes.
It is reported that the fire in the apartment was ignited by a lamp placed in the temple built in the balcony of the apartment. Himanshu Sehgal, the occupant of the flat, was safely evacuated in a timely manner.

As seen in the video, the fire rapidly spread through the vicinity while the rescue team made efforts to bring it under control. The flame was extended to the balcony area and a large plume of black smoke due to the fire was seen coming out.
Another fire in Crossing Republik
Another fire erupted in a pharmacy shop within the same vicinity shortly after. The fire department received the second report of the fire in the Crossing Republik area around 8:05 am. This fire originated in a pharmacy shop on the ground floor of Panchsheel Square.
The fire brigade promptly arrived at the scene, extended the hose line, and commenced firefighting operations. After strenuous efforts, the fire was successfully contained. In this incident, merchandise worth lakhs of rupees, stored in the pharmacy, was reduced to ashes.
In relation to both of these fire incidents, Chief Fire Officer Rahul Pal has stated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fires.
