Five people died and two got injured after a massive fire broke out in a residential building in the Behta Hajipur village of the Loni Border area, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. There were two children among five deceased.
On receiving the information, police and fire brigade reached the spot to douse the fire, said the official on Thursday.
Police said the deceased have been identified as Saiful Rehman (35), his wife Nazira (32), daughter Isra (7), Faiz (7-month-old) and Farheen alias Parveen (25). The injured, Arsh (10) and Uzma (25), were admitted to GTB Hospital in Delhi. Arsh was later discharged, they said.
After the fire broke out, three children, two women and a young girl got trapped in the house. Fire brigade personnel recovered five bodies. It is said that a foam business was going on in the building.
Additional Police Commissioner Dinesh P said, "5 people have lost their lives. A woman and a child were injured. The injured have been moved to the hospital. The fire spread from the ground floor to the higher storeys. The people on the first and second floors were tapped in."
The fire broke out in the house due to a short circuit, said the officials. The fire brigade team carried out rescue work and due to the houses being located in narrow streets, the firefighters had to face a lot of difficulty in relief and rescue work.
