Ghaziabad: An uncontrolled bus of Uttar Pradesh Roadways broke the railing on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and fell down the slope. A total of 24 passengers on the bus were injured. According to reports, the accident occurred while the bus was going from Meerut to Delhi. Footage of the accident is doing rounds on social media which was captured by a nearby camera on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. The police have obtained the footage.
In a purported video of the accident, it can be seen that the bus was moving on the innermost lane of the expressway before it suddenly veered left. It was then seen crossing two lanes before breaking through the barricade and falling into the pit.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Vivek Chand Yadav informed that 24 passengers were injured in the accident. They have been admitted in government and private hospitals.
"Pradeep, the bus driver, told the police that he is not aware how he lost his balance on the steering. The driver was not inebriated," the officer said. All the injured passengers were from Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district, the police said.
Chaos erupted at the time of the incident at the spot. After this accident, the police said that a roadways bus, which was going from Meerut to Delhi, went out of control and fell down the slope on the Delhi Meerut Expressway under the Mussoorie police station area. About 20 passengers were injured on the spot and were sent to District Hospital -- Sanjay Nagar Ghaziabad and Sarvodaya Hospital through ambulance.
A video of this accident has also surfaced, where in, it can seen that the bus on the highway fell into the pit. However, the reason behind this accident has not been revealed yet. The police are investigating the entire matter. Only after investigation will it be clear whether this accident happened due to technical reasons or not.
