Delhi Police on Friday arrested the 'super thief' Davinder Singh from Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. Davinder Singh alias "Bunty Chor" was on the run after committing theft in two houses in Greater Kailash 2 area. Dibakar Banerjee's hit film 'Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye' was inspired by the life of Davinder Singh. As per news reports, till 2012, Bunty Chor has committed over 500 burglaries across the country.
DCP South on Friday told ANI that Delhi Police "have arrested Davinder Singh alias "Bunty Chor" from Kanpur, UP. He was on the run after committing theft in two houses in Greater Kailash 2 area. Further investigation underway." The Delhi police are expected to hold a press conference today on Davinder Singh's arrest.
Before this, Davinder Singh was successful in escaping from police custody many times in Delhi, Chennai and Chandigarh.
According to media reports, he recently executed thefts in a high-class locality in the national capital. The thefts were conducted in his trademark style, and valuable goods worth lakhs were stolen from two homes in South Delhi's Greater Kailash area.
Bunty Chor is a class nine dropout who began thieving activities in 1993. You will be surprised to know that Bunty chose five-star hotels for accommodation rather than buying a property. For the very first time, he was nabbed in New Delhi, however, he successfully managed to flee from police custody.
It is said that swanky cars and watches are his weakness. Years after the film 'Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye' was released in 2008, he appeared in the famous and controversial reality show 'Bigg Boss Season 4' in 2010.
