Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has applied for permission under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) to start accepting donations collected by people in different parts of the world, said the trust treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj on Monday.

Rs 3,200 crore in donations so far

The trust has so far collected more than Rs 3,200 crore in donations from individuals and organizations within the country, he said.

"We have so far received donations to the tune of Rs 3200 crore from individuals and organizations within the country, and the work of the temple is also complete. People are eager to contribute towards the work and we are sure there won't be any paucity of funds ever," said Swami Giri.

Donations from outside India soon

"People (Indians) living abroad have collected donations there, but we have not accepted them. We will start receiving these donations as we have already applied for FCRA permissions, and we are sure we will get the required permissions," he said.

'Do Dhage Shri Ram Ke Liye' drive
Heritage Handweaving Revival Charitable Trust and the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust have decided to offer an opportunity to people in Pune under the 'Do Dhage Shri Ram Ke Liye' initiative to make 'vastras' for Lord Ram Lalla in Ayodhya between December 10 and December 22 later this year, Swami Giri added.

Invitation to PM Modi for idol consecration ceremony

Meanwhile, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust has formally invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram's idol in the sacred sanctum sanctorum of the grand temple being built at the Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh. The ceremony, which will take place in January 2024, will witness the presence of approximately 10,000 guests. General secretary of the Ram Mandir Trust, Champat Rai, said they have proffered a range of dates between January 15 and January 24. Though, he said, the precise date shall be determined by the Prime Minister.  The invitation letter, signed by the trust's president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, states that the PM's presence would enhance India's global reputation.

Workforce increased
The ground floor of the temple is likely to be completed by December this year and to achieve this target, the construction work is now being conducted round-the-clock, replacing the erstwhile 18-hour shift. The temple trust has also increased the workforce from 550 to approximately 1,600 labourers and technicians.
