A day after the unexpected destruction of an undergraduate student subsequent to drinking water from a water cooler on the Allahabad University (AU) campus on Tuesday evening, many students organised a huge violent protest on the grounds and outside, turning to vandalism.

After hundreds of students went on the rampage, staged a violent protest on Wednesday, damaged property, and even misbehaved with some female teachers, additional forces have been deployed, according to news agency IANS.

The students requested an FIR against the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, DSW, and proctor and sought their resignation. They also sought financial compensation for the deceased person's family.

As per students, in the wake of going to the class, Ashutosh Dubey, 22, a last year B.A. student, went to drink water at the water cooler close to the students' union building.

Dubey collapsed while drinking water, and he was rushed to the SRN hospital, where he was deemed "brought dead."

The students claimed that they were forced to transport Dubey in an e-rickshaw because the authorities at AU failed to arrive on time with an ambulance. Additionally, they claimed that the e-rickshaw was prevented from entering the campus by security personnel.

Dubey's father has lodged a complaint against the college administration at the Colonelganj police headquarters.

Protesting students initially obstructed Motilal Nehru Street and later blocked the entry and exit from AU by hindering the Library gate of the Arts campus.

At the Sanskrit department, students broke earthen pots, furniture, etc. Additionally, they purportedly mishandled the female teachers of the department.

Additionally, videos of their violent behaviour circulated on social media platforms. They additionally damaged the glass panes of the almirah and doors of the Library.

The protesting students, who had blocked the library door, were joined by the father of the deceased student.

The agitation ended after the police acknowledged Dubey's father's application, in which he held the Dean of Student Welfare, Shanti Sunderam, and Proctor Rakesh Singh liable for the death of his son. Based on the application, the police have promised to file a complaint.
