Very often, you may have heard of the bizarre or odd experiences that commuters or flyers have had to face during their airline travels. But have you ever heard of a person falling off the tarmac after a ladder used to board or de-board a plane was mistakenly removed while the person was still in the midst of stepping out of the flight?

Yes, the incident occurred at Jakarta airport in Indonesia, after a ground staff member fell onto the tarmac while in the process of de-boarding the flight through the stepladder used for the purpose. However, the other two airport ground staff workers, unaware of his move, mistakenly removed the ladder, leading to the person's fall. While the worker who suffered injuries is reportedly safe, the incident has caused major uproar on the internet after the video of the incident went viral.

The video starts with the ground staff member (who fell) seen speaking with someone inside the Airbus A320 plane while also attempting to step out. However, unaware of their co-worker's move, the other two staffers present on the ground removed the ladder used to board and de-board a plane from the front door of the aircraft. The men moving the stairs turn around to see him falling, while several sheets of paper he was holding scatter in the air.

Moreover, aviation consultant Sanjay Lazar, taking to X (formerly Twitter), termed the incident as a “crazy lapse” in procedures.

He said, "Shocking video received on WhatsApp - Warning ⚠️ ⛔️ alarming visuals of a staffer falling off a plane #aviation #avgeek #plane #shocking. The incident occurred in Indonesia with Transnusa Airlines & Jas Airport Services."

Meanwhile, netizens were quick to react to the airline's major security lapse.

"This is concerning on what protocols this team would follow while inspecting the plane and engine when they did not bother with a basic head count or signal before removing the ladder," one user wrote.

"How did they remove the stepladder without the (aircraft) door closed? Isn't that basic SOP? This is the worst nightmare for any ground staff/crew," the other commented.
