A Hyderabad man, with a social media username Sai Teja, has claimed to find worms in the chicken pieces of the biryani he ordered from a well-known restaurant in the city, adding to a series of food contamination incidents shared on social media recently. Alarmed by his discovery, he posted images of the contaminated dish on X, showing maggots within the chicken, which sparked widespread concern.

Sai Teja tagged @cfs_telangana on social media, seeking intervention from the authorities, and reported the issue to Swiggy, the delivery platform he used. Swiggy expressed regret, noting that the packaging is handled exclusively by the restaurant.

Other Details

Initially, Swiggy offered Sai Teja a partial refund of Rs. 64 out of his total bill of Rs. 318.However, dissatisfied with their response, he posted a warning on social media, advising others to avoid ordering from the Biryani store  in Kukatpally. He also attempted to file a complaint on the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) website but encountered difficulties as the system demanded more information despite him providing all necessary details.

Following the social media uproar, Swiggy’s customer care team eventually contacted Sai Teja and provided a full refund, addressing his grievances more satisfactorily.

Meanwhile, this incident comes shortly after another shocking case in Mumbai, where a man found a human finger inside an ice cream cone ordered online. Orlem Brandon Serrao, a 27-year-old doctor, reported that his sister ordered a Yummo butterscotch cone through a home delivery app. As he started to eat the ice cream, he discovered a severed human finger inside, which was about 2 centimeters long.

The police have registered a case and initiated an inquiry into the matter. An FIR has been registered at the Malad Police Station, and an investigation is underway to determine where the ice cream was manufactured.
