Viral post: A fourth-grade student in a primary school in Gujarat's Dahod district scored 211 out of 200 in Gujarati, and 212 out of 200 marks in mathematics, thus sparking concerns about the state’s education system. Vanshiben Manishbhai received her scorecard and was taken by surprise after seeing her marks in the two subjects. The picture of the same has gone viral on social media. However, it was later said that this was due to an error during result compilation.
A revised result sheet was subsequently issued and corrected marks of 191 out of 200 in Gujarat and 190 out of 200 in mathematics were given. The scores in other subjects remained untouched.
Vanshiben got 934 marks out of 1000 in the fresh result.
The mistake of the school department came to the fore when the student proudly shared her results with her family. It was then discovered that the scored marks were more than the total marks of the two exams.
The district education officials initiated a probe to bring to the fore the cause of the error aiming to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
