In a story that has captured the hearts (and funny bones) of the internet, a Bengaluru-based software engineer's matrimonial quest has been put on hold due to his potential future father-in-law's cricket fandom.
Rahul, the software engineer in question, contacted Priyanka on a popular matrimonial website, Shaadi.com. Hoping to impress, his introductory message highlighted his impressive salary of Rs. 70 lakh per annum (LPA) and expressed his belief in their compatibility.
However, Rahul's attempt to woo Priyanka was met with an unexpected response – not from Priyanka herself, but from her cricket-enthusiastic father. In a hilarious turn of events, the father politely thanked Rahul for his interest but requested to postpone further discussion until after a crucial cricket match.
“Hello, I'm Rahul, software engineer from Bangalore. Saw your daughter's profile on Shaadi.com. Currently at 70LPA CTC and I believe we'd be very compatible,” Rahul wrote.
Rahul got a reply from Priyanka's father, stating they could discuss further post the match. “Hello, thanks! I’m Priyanka’s dad. Match ke baad baat karte hain (Let's talk after the match),” the father replied.
Watch the hilarious exchange:
Rahul's cousin Naina posted a screenshot of the conversation on X. Within 24 hours, it garnered over 600,000 views on the platform, generating considerable amusement among viewers.
The exchange quickly went viral on social media, with many users amused by the father's priorities. While some chuckled at his dedication to the sport, others highlighted the importance of finding a partner who shares similar interests beyond financial stability.
“Uncle had his priorities clear. England ko haraane ke baad baat karenge (Talking can happen after India beats England),” wrote someone, referring to India’s match in the T20 World Cup Semi-Final against England which India won by 68 runs. “Uncle’s got priorities,” another commented, while a third wrote: “Shaadi toh hoti rahegi match nahi rukna chahiye (Weddings will keep happening, nothing should interrupt the match).”
