Zakir Naik is an Indian fugitive who is accused of money laundering and hate speeches. He is in Pakistan for a month-long visit where he will deliver lectures in different cities.
Shehbaz Sharif described Naik's lectures as "highly insightful and impactful," noting that he has a considerable following among young audiences. Later that day, he also met with several other leaders, including the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Zakir Naik arrived in Pakistan on Monday on a month-long visit that will see him deliver "lectures" in major cities of the country including Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore.
A special PMLA court here Wednesday ordered controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, accused of laundering money to the tune of Rs 193 crore, to personally appear before it on July 31.
Zakir Naik has been under investigation since 2016, when the Centre banned his Islamic Research Foundation for five years.
