As heavy rains and floods ravaged the national capital, the water level of river Yamuna reached its highest ever level at 207.55 metres on Wednesday, breaking a 44-year-old record.
Delhi: Delhi BJP president Virend Sachdeva on Wednesday informed that they have shifted about 80-100 people near DND Flyover as the water level of Yamuna is rising.
In a tweet shared by Delhi traffic police, it said, "Traffic is affected on Ring road between Monastery and ISBT, Kashmere Gate due to overflowing Yamuna river water. Kindly avoid the stretch."
In wake of Delhi situation, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal chaired an emergency meeting today at the Delhi Secretariat.
The previous highest level of the Yamuna river was recorded at 207.49 metres in 1978. In 2013, the water level came close to this peak at 207.33 metres.

New Delhi: Delhi L-G VK Saxena on Sunday informed that around 1,200 metric tonnes of garbage were removed from the Yamuna during the first phase of the river cleaning operation.

New Delhi: The water level in the River Yamuna in Delhi started receding after breaching the evacuation mark of 206 metres, with Haryana reducing the flow from the Hathnikund Barrage in Yamunanagar, officials said on Wednesday.
Yamuna's water level had receded below the warning mark on Monday and stood at 203.96 metres at 6 pm on Tuesday.

Yamuna water level shoots up: The Delhi flood control room said the water level reached 205.78 metres at 9 pm on Friday. It was 205.38 metres at 4 pm and 205.29 metres at 3 pm.
On average, 24 out of the 35 STPs in the national capital did not meet the prescribed standards for wastewater over the last year, according to government data. Of the 13 common effluent treatment plants in industrial areas across Delhi, only six comply with the DPCC standards for wastewater on average.

Due to this pressure, all 18 gates of the Hathni Kund barrage (in Haryana's Yamunanagar) have been opened to direct water towards Delhi. At the same time, the Western Yamuna Canal is also running at its highest level.
