The World XI includes five players from South Africa, three from Australia, two from the West Indies, and one each from Bangladesh, England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
Imran, who heads the main opposition party, is expected to only return to Pakistan on the day the World XI ends its tour.
The high-profile T20I series brings together several top-level competitors including three of the top five bowlers in the ICC T20I Players Rankings getting to display their wares.
The successful hosting of the PSL final at Lahore earlier this year gave the PCB enough confidence to schedule a T20 series against the World XI in collaboration with the ICC.

The first two T20Is will be played on September 12 and 13, and the final game will be played on September 15 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Collingwood must have been quite demoralising for Pakistan's players during the last few years as no international matches were held in their country because of security reasons.
The PCB is said to be paying the players between USD 75,000 and USD 100,000 for the short tour that will be held from September 11 to 15.
