Wholesale inflation eases to 5.09 per cent in July

Wholesale price-indexed (WPI) inflation in India during April rose to four-month high at 3.18 per cent on increasing prices of petrol and diesel as well as fruits and vegetables.
WPI inflation at 2.48 per cent in February is the lowest in seven months. The previous low level was recorded in July at 1.88 per cent.
Wholesale inflation grew to 6-month high of 3.59 per cent in October, as prices of food articles, led by vegetables, soared by 2.2 per cent.

As per the data released today, inflation in food articles was 1.16 per cent in April, lower than 3.82 per cent in March.
The government also revised upwards the January inflation figure to 5.53 per cent from the provisional estimate of 5.25 per cent.
