The marathon eight-phase assembly elections in West Bengal is over and now all eyes are on May 2 when the votes will be counted. The over month-long elections in Bengal witnessed high-pitched and acerbic campaigning from both the ruling Trinamool Congress and the prime challenger Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). While top leaders of the BJP, including PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, have repeatedly express confidence of the saffron party winning more than 200 seats, CM Mamata Banerjee has also exuded confidence of retaining power in the state where her TMC had dethroned the Left in 2011 for the first time.
