The second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections saw a 56% voter turnout, slightly lower than 2014. Despite tight security, elections in 26 constituencies concluded peacefully. High turnout was reported in key regions like Sri Mata Vaishno Devi and Surankot.
Jammu-Kashmir Phase 1 polling: In Pulwama district, the Pulwama segment witnessed 50.42 per cent polling, followed by Rajpora 48.07 per cent, Pampore 44.74 per cent and Tral 43.21 per cent.
The next phases of polling in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections are on September 25 and October 1. The votes will be counted on October 8.
Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced a 63.37% voter turnout for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections held on May 25 across 58 constituencies. The turnout included 61.95% male, 64.95% female, and 18.67% third gender voters.

During the hearing, the bench said it would be difficult for the poll panel to mobilise manpower for uploading the voter turnout data on its website. The apex court took into cognisance the EC argument that giving 17C on website could lead to mischief and create mistrust among voters.

After phase 5, voting in the last two phases -- 6 and 7 -- are left. Phase 6 will vote on May 25 and last phase on June 1. The results of Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be declared on June 4.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the remarkable surge in the voter turnout in Baramulla Lok Sabha polling, saying it is a befitting reply to those who ask what has changed after the abrogation of Article 370.
Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency went to polls in the fifth phase of elections on Monday (May 20). The fifth phase marked the end of Lok Sabha elections in the Union Territory which has five constituencies. The results will be declared on June 4.
"The Sankalp Patra, a pledge form, was distributed to students who, in turn, brought those to their parents to sign, committing to vote," the poll body said in a statement.
The demand for uploading polling data within 48 hours aims to enhance electoral transparency and facilitate public access to crucial information regarding voter participation.
