A Russian intercontinental ballistic missile that Ukraine says was fired at the city of Dnipro on Thursday was an RS-26 Rubezh, Ukraine's Ukrainska Pravda media outlet reported, citing anonymous sources.

The move comes two months before President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20 and follows months of pleas by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to allow Ukraine's military to use US weapons to hit Russian military targets far from its border.
This was Trump's first meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy since his presidency ended in 2021, although they spoke on call in July. Trump had recently criticised the Ukrainian President and has been a vocal opponent of US aid to Ukraine, calling it a waste of money.
This meeting came as Trump criticised Zelenskyy for making "nasty aspersions" towards him and his running mate JD Vance amid rumours of a growing rift between them. The US on Thursday announced $8 billion in military assistance for Ukraine to repel Russia's invasion.
Trump asserted that Russia would never have invaded Ukraine if he was president and blamed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for the "complete obliteration" of Kyiv. The former President has long been critical of US aid to Ukraine, calling it a waste of money.
During his speech at the United Nations, Zelenskyy said proposing "alternatives, half-hearted settlement plans, so-called sets of principles" would give Russian President Putin the political space to continue the war.
Zelenskyy told the UN Security Council that "we have to prepare" for a second peace summit to end the Ukraine conflict for which he had already invited India. This came after he met PM Modi in New York for their third bilateral meeting this year, recalling the PM's recent visit to Ukraine.
During the meeting, Zelenskyy appreciated India's attention to the conflict in Ukraine and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in finding a way out of it.

Ukraine's foreign minister Andrii Sybiha called on the world to prevent Russian scenarios involving strikes on nuclear power facilities. This came after a Russian overnight strike killed three in central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih.
During his visit, Ukraine's president will meet representatives of the US Congress from both parties, including former US President Donald Trump.
Notably, the telephone conversation between both leaders came before PM Modi's scheduled trip to the United States, where he will be meeting the QUAD leaders, including US President Joe Biden on September 21.
Western countries have long been reluctant to allow Ukraine to strike targets deep inside Russia out of fears of escalating the two-and-a-half-year conflict. However, the US is reportedly moving towards a shift in that policy, which would mark a dangerous escalation in the conflict.
Russia would be forced to take what Putin called "appropriate decisions" based on the new threats."If this decision is taken, it will mean nothing less than the direct involvement of NATO countries, the United States and European countries in the war in Ukraine," said Putin.
Russia's Defense Ministry announced that Moscow's forces had regained control of 10 settlements in Kursk, providing a list of the locations but not characterising the operations as a counter-offensive.
This is the second Ukrainian drone attack on Russia in September - Kyiv launched 158 drones targeting a dozen areas earlier this month. Ukraine has been increasingly launching drone attacks deep inside Russia as Moscow advances in the eastern part of the country.
PM Modi invited Zelenskyy to India during his historic one-day trip to Ukraine on August 23, following a visit to Poland. The Indian leader told Zelenskyy that India was "never neutral" in the Russia-Ukraine war and was always "in favour of peace".
Andrii Sybiha, a former ambassador to Turkey, is the country's new chief diplomat. He replaced Dmytro Kuleba, who became one of Ukraine's most recognisable faces on the international stage as he petitioned and pleaded with Western countries to support Ukraine's war effort.
During the war, Dmytro Kuleba was second only to Zelenskyy in carrying Ukraine's message and needs to an international audience, whether through social media posts or meetings with foreign dignitaries.
