On Tuesday (April 2), the Directorate General of Civil Aviation asked Vistara Airlines to submit daily reports about flight operations and follow the Civil Aviation Regulations.
Over the weekend of March 31 to April 1 period, Vistara had a number of disruptions. Earlier this week, aviation regulator DGCA asked the airline to submit a daily report on flight cancellations and delays.
The full-service carrier has been grappling with the issue of first officers of its A320 fleet reporting sick in the last few weeks to protest against reduction in their emoluments due to new contracts, sources said.
A Vistara spokesperson said the airline had a significant number of flight cancellations and delays in the past few days due to various reasons, including crew unavailability.
Vistara Airlines released a statement acknowledging the recent frequent delays and cancellations of flights, said its teams are working to stabilise the situation as it has happened due to various operational reasons.
Vistara currently operates daily flights from Mumbai and Delhi to Male along with other airlines like Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet.
The flight UK778 was flying from Kolkata to Delhi.
The incident occurred a little before the Vistara flight was scheduled to land at the Mumbai International Airport. The accused was identified as Mohammed Dulal who was going from Muscat to Dhaka via Mumbai on a Vistara flight.
The deal would mark a major consolidation in India’s fast-growing aviation space.
