Many Sputnik V recipients who had taken their second dose way back in July last year are unable to get the booster shot. The two doses of Sputnik V are administered at a gap of 21-30 days.
The people of the age group 15-18 years have been provided with 5,83,09,299 1st dose and 4,18,99,185 2nd dose of the coronavirus vaccine, said the ministry.
This development comes after the Subject Expert Committee discussed recommendations for the restricted emergency of Covaxin in children aged between 2-12 years.
As per the ministry, in the age group 15-18 years, 5,78,45,181 1st dose and 4,03,05,973 2nd dose have been administered.
The recommendation also includes fourth shots for those between 18–64 with moderate to severe immune deficiency, Sweden’s Public Health Agency said in a statement. "The goal is just as before to prevent serious illness and death from Covid19," Agency chief Karin Tegmark Wisell said.
Nearly 50 children in the 12-14 age group were administered vaccine doses at the Aamdara primary health centre on Mar 24, CMHO said.
