Top tennis stars, both men and women, have pulled out of the Slam due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in New York but Murray stated he is willing to take the risk to participate at the tournament.

Nick Kyrgios said in an Instagram post on Sunday that he had no problem with the United States Tennis Association proceeding with its plans to hold the tournament from August 31 to September 13.
