The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to "airlift" during the day the Unnao rape survivor, who suffered critical injuries when her car was hit by a truck last week, from Lucknow for better medical care at AIIMS in New Delhi if her treating doctors declare her "fit" for the transfer.
The CBI is carrying out searches at multiple locations in connection with the Unnao rape victim's accident case, officials said Sunday. The details of searches have been withheld as the operation is going on but it is understood that 17 places including Sengar's home are being searched, they said.
The Unnao rape survivor, who is kept on a ventilator has developed pneumonia which is causing mild fever doctors treating her at the King George's Medical University hospital in Lucknow said on Saturday. The doctor also said her condition remains critical, a week after the deadly road accident.
"Our brother Kuldeep Singh could not be here among us today as he is going through difficult times. Our best wishes are with him. We hope that he will overcome the bad times, fight through it and come out of it and be with all of you to lead you," BJP MLA Ashish Singh is heard saying in the video made at a panchayat meeting in Unnao on Friday. "Wherever we are, our best wishes are with him."
For the 'Sengar Brothers' of Uttar Pradesh, their list of heinous crimes does not stop with the Unnao rape case. A DIG rank IPS officer of the UP cadre, Ram Lal Verma, who was shot four times (in the chest and stomach) by the 'Sengar brothers', has now come forward to seek justice.
On Thursday, a bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi had shifted the five cases related to the Unnao rape to Delhi and assigned a special judge to conduct day-to-day trials. Today, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) urged the SC not to transfer the accident case to Delhi.
The trend began in 1997 and has grown stronger with every passing year. It was in 1997 when Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati suddenly pulled out of her coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), leaving the then Kalyan Singh government in the lurch.
Unnao Rape Case: Congress's Uttar Pradesh in-charge Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has called Supreme Court's hearing the Unnao rape case as a failure of the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh. Priyanka Gandhi also said there was "jungle raj" in Uttar Pradesh.
The mother of Unnao rape survivor has said she would not want her daughter to be airlifted to Delhi, adding the Unnao rape survivor is receiving good treatment at Lucknow's KGMU. The authorities have also ordered to transfer the rape survivor's uncle from Rae Bareily jail to Tihar jail in Delhi. Meanwhile, the condition of Unnao rape survivor and her lawyer continues to be critical.
"A cheque of Rs 25 lakh was handed over to the family members of the Unnao rape survivor by district magistrate of Lucknow Kaushal Raj Sharma and SSP Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani," Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi said in a statement in Lucknow.
Unnao rape survivor's second aunt's mortal remains were brought to the village in the Subeha area in Barabanki from Lucknow amid tight security. The last rites were performed by her son in the presence of her two daughters. The woman was a widow.
On Sunday, the car in which the Unnao rape survivor, her family and lawyer were travelling was hit by a truck in Rae Bareli, killing her two aunts and leaving her and the advocate critically injured.
Kuldeep Sengar started his political career with the Congress in the late nineties but in 2002, he shifted to the Bahujan Samaj Party and won his first election from the Unnao Sadar seat. This was the first time that the BSP won this seat.
The victim’s uncle alleged, while lodging complaint at the Rae Bareli district jail, that police personnel in her security were also involved in the conspiracy and informed the MLA's henchmen about her location.
In yet another development in the Unnao rape victim's car accident case, a CCTV footage of a toll plaza in Rae Bareli has emerged. In the CCTV video, the Unnao rape victim's car can be seen crossing a toll plaza, where toll officials are deployed. The video is said to be captured moments before the deadly car accident in which two of the victim's aunts had lost their lives. The victim, meanwhile, continues to be serious.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday expelled MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar from the party, in connection with the accident case of Unnao rape survivor. Sengar was an accused in Unnao rape case.
Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi asked the CBI officer supervising the cases connected with Unnao rape victim to make a personal appearance before the court on Thursday at 12 p.m.
The top court also refused a plea of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the CBI that the matter be adjourned to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, as the officers probing the Unnao cases were out of Delhi. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi rejected Mehta's contention, saying the CBI director can gather the information of the cases on telephone and apprise the bench on Thursday.
The CBI officials had reached the accident site of Unnao rape survivor in Rae Bareli on Wednesday. As part of its probe in the case, the CBI has revealed that the Unnao rape victim's car was being driven at a speed of 100 kms per hour and that the truck was moving on the wrong side of the road. Further investigations into the accident of Unnao rape victim is underway, the CBI said.
The young woman, who has accused BJP lawmaker Kuldeep Sengar of raping her at his residence in 2017 when she was a minor, her family and her lawyer were hit by a truck in Raebareli on Sunday. Her two aunts were killed and she and the advocate have been critically injured.
