The Unnao rape victim was airlifted to the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi after she was set ablaze allegedly by five persons. She died on Friday night. The victim suffered a cardiac arrest at 11.10 pm but she succumbed at 11.40 pm.

The family members of the rape victim who was set ablaze here on Friday said they are “happy” with the death of the Hyderabad rape-and-murder accused in a police encounter and sought ”similar punishment” in the Uttar Pradesh case.
"The condition of the patient is extremely critical and she is on ventilator. Even her vitals are very low," said Dr Shalab Kumar, Head of Burn and Plastic Surgery at the hospital.
"My brother Shubham and my father Hari Shankar are being targeted because my mother is the head of the Kundanpur village Panchayat. I want a CBI inquiry into the case so that the truth is known," sister of the main accused said.
Raped by three men in March, a woman in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao was set ablaze while she was on her way to a court. The men who set the woman on fire included rapists who were out on bail for the crime. The Unnao rape survivor was admitted to a hospital with 90 per cent burn injuries.
In a letter sent to Uttar Pradesh Director General O.P. Singh, the National Commission for Women chairperson Rekha Sharma sought a detailed report of the incident and the action taken.
"The condition of the girl who was set on fire and bought here at 10 am is very serious. She has 90 per cent burn injuries and we are taking utmost care. A team of doctors are observing her," Dr Ashutosh Dubey, medical superintendent of the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital, told PTI.
The CBI on Friday filed a charge sheet against former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and his associates for criminal conspiracy and intimidation but dropped murder charges against them in the Unnao rape victim accident case in which two aunts of the girl were killed, officials said.
The rape survivor's family had earlier told the court that they wanted to reside in the national capital apprehending threat in Uttar Pradesh, their native state.
The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Thursday sought seven days from a city court for providing accommodation to the family of the Unnao rape survivor, who was allegedly raped by expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in 2017.
The court is also likely to take cognisance of the charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the gang-rape case.

A Delhi court on Saturday pulled up the counsel for one of the parties in the Unnao rape case, allegedly involving expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh, for posting on social media the details of the in-camera proceedings of the case pertaining to the alleged murder of the victim's father.

District Judge Dharmesh Sharma directed that the rape survivor, likely to be discharged from AIIMS on Wednesday, and her family members -- mother, two sisters and one brother -- be temporarily accommodated in the hostel of the Jay Prakash Narayan Trauma Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi for the next seven days, a lawyer privy to the proceedings said.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the BJP government and the police in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday over the Chinmayanand case, saying they were repeating the "negligence" shown and "protection" given to the accused in the Unnao rape case.
A Delhi court has refused to direct the CBI to initiate a probe against the doctors who had treated the father of the Unnao rape survivor when he was injured and in judicial custody, saying it was the prerogative of the CBI to conduct the prosecution.
