The United Nations Security Council on Friday held a rare closed door meeting on Kashmir after India revoked the special status to Jammu and Kashmir, sparking a fresh row with Pakistan. However, Islamabad's move proved to be of no good to them.
The Asia-Pacific Group at the UN has unanimously supported India for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council after India's overwhelming influence forced China and Pakistan to join in the endorsement.
In a major diplomatic win, India's candidature for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has been unanimously endorsed by the Asia Pacific group of 55 countries including China and Pakistan.
In the vote on the Britain-drafted text, 11 members of the council were in favour, Russia and Bolivia were against, and China and Kazakhstan abstained.
