Former PCB chairman Najam Sethi has revealed that Umar Akmal suffers from epilepsy -a disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures.
The report suggests that Umar Akmal's ban could have a significant part of the three-year duration suspended.
Umar was slapped with a three-year ban from all forms of cricket by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for his failure to report corrupt approaches ahead of the Pakistan Super League.

Umar Akmal now cannot take part in any cricket-related activity pending the investigation being carried out by PCB's Anti-Corruption Unit.
Recently, Umar posted a photo on Twitter with former Pakistan player Abdul Razzak and wrote: "Mother from another brother."
The PCB has said in a statement that after concluding its proceedings into the alleged misconduct by Umar during a fitness test and after listening to all the parties involved.
Umar Akmal landed himself in controversy after making crude remarks to trainer Yasir during the skin-folding test.
The junior Akmal, who is reported to have exposed himself in frustration after failing to pass one of the fitness tests, is now faced with the prospect of being banned from the country's next domestic tournament.
