'India ready to engage in diplomacy to end Ukraine war'

India has brought back over 17,100 of its nationals from Ukraine so far while around 700 Indian students remained stuck in the northeastern city of Sumy with their evacuation dependent on the facilitation of a safe passage by Russian and Ukrainian authorities.
The 15-nation UN Security Council held an emergency meeting on Ukraine late Wednesday night, the second meeting this week and the fourth since January 31 as tensions escalated between Russia and Ukraine.
"If we need to have any sustainable recovery from the pandemic, it should start with vaccines," TS Tirumurti added.
India has been at the forefront in fighting against the pandemic, through national efforts, multilateral and plurilateral cooperation.
On climate change, Tirumurti said India is the only G-20 country which is on course to meet the Paris Targets.
India assumed the Presidency of UN Security Council for the month on Aug 1 and wrapped up a hectic 1st week with discussions on Afghanistan on Aug 6 amidst a deteriorating security situation in the country as the Taliban carried out its military offensive.
India assumed the presidency of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month of August. Speaking on the tenure, the Ambassador of India to the United Nations, TS Tirumurti said, "India is very happy to take over as the President of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for this month. This is our eighth tenure...This stint gives us an opportunity to play an important role yet again in shaping some of the important challenges on international peace and security."
India has said that there is no "one size fits all" approach but countries can certainly share experience and learn from each other.
India has once again condemned terrorism at UNSC meet. Recently it was in the event titled 'Threats of International Peace and Security caused by Terrorist Acts' India opined "Easy access to new and emerging technologies have enabled terrorist groups to exploit current conditions.
Permanent Representative of India to UN, TS Tirumurti on 75th anniversary of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) said that India has set forth priorities, which include peace as the country will also be entering Security Council as non-permanent member.
