The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Tirupati Laddu prasadam case has paused its investigation until October 3, following a Supreme Court hearing. Andhra Pradesh DGP, Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, confirmed the suspension as a precautionary measure to safeguard the investigation's integrity.
The SIT, under the leadership of senior police officer Sarveshwar Tripathi, has been formed to investigate the adulteration in the ghee used for making Tirupati prasadam laddus. Meanwhile, the TDP filed a formal complaint in the case on Wednesday.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister earlier announced the formation of the SIT to probe into the alleged incident in which famous 'prasadam' contained "animal fat".
The Prime Minister reached Tirupati on Sunday and was welcomed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and Governor S Abdul Nazeer at the Renigunta airport.
