China's ByteDance has decided to place the headquarters of its popular video platform app TikTok in the US in order to escape President Donald Trump's ban, official media reported on Wednesday.

China feels the heat after ban on Chinese apps
After TikTok was banned in India in June, along with 58 other Chinese apps, the Donald Trump administration in the US increased pressure on the ByteDance-owned platform to sell its US operations by mid-September or face a ban.
Microsoft has confirmed that ByteDance has rejected its offer to take over TikTok's US operations. Oracle is the only known remaining bidder.
