The accused, Aparna Manohar Mohare, posed as a cop and contacted the 20-year-old victim in Mumbra, claiming that an offence of kidnapping and theft was registered against the latter. Accused demanded Rs 7 lakh from the victim to save her from arrest.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a call centre in Mira Road area and arrested seven people, Assistant Superintendent of Police Atul Kulkarni said.
