Kashmiri separatist leader Yasain Malilk was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2022 by a trial court after pleading guilty to the terror funding charges against him.
A Delhi court will deliver its verdict today on Engineer Rashid’s regular bail plea in the 2017 terror funding case. Rashid, an MP from Baramulla, sought release after being in custody since 2019 under the NIA’s investigation.
The SIA had already filed a charge sheet against 12 accused. While nine accused are lodged in Central jail, three absconders are in Pakistan.

The investigating agency said 17 properties belonging to "financier of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir" Watali in the Handwara area of Kupwara district were attached on the orders of Special NIA Court, Patiala House, under section 33(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) (UAPA).
These raids are part of the ongoing investigation being carried out into the terror funding case by the agency.
The searches were aimed at exposing links and conspiracies of the 10 already arrested accused and charge-sheeted in the case by the NIA Court.
In a case involving the separatist and secessionist activities of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami, the NIA conducted searches at 16 locations in Jammu and Kashmir on May 4 as part of its ongoing crackdown on terror funding in Jammu and Kashmir.
These raids are part of the ongoing investigation being carried out into the terror funding case by the agency.
NGO Terror funding case: The accused has been identified as Irfan Mehraj, a close associate of Khurram Parvez and was working with his organization, the Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Societies (JKCCS).
J&K terror-funding case: Earlier this year, a case was registered against Barkati by the SIA, a subsidiary of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, to probe the collection of funds as well as his "anti-national" speeches.
J&K State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Saturday seized a house in the Barzulla area which was registered in the name of late separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. According to the officials, the property was believed to have been purchased in the late 1990s by Jamat-e-Islami.
Jammu and Kashmir: NIA sources said that the case is related to the suspicious activities of Al Huda Educational Trust in the Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.
PFI under scanner: Multi-agency teams spearheaded by the NIA arrested 106 leaders and activists of the radical Islamic outfit on Thursday in near simultaneous raids in 15 states for allegedly supporting terror activities in the country, officials said.
Terror funding case: Official sources said the raids are being carried out at Dhara-Gundana, Munshi Mohalla, Akramband, Nagri Nai Basti, Kharoti Bhagwah, Thalela and Malothi Bhalla in Doda district and Bhatindi in Jammu.
The development comes a day after the NIA conducted raids at four places in Jammu and Kashmir, including three locations in Baramulla and one in Handwara.
Besides the life term, Special Judge Praveen Singh awarded varying jail terms for various offences under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Indian Penal Code to Yasin Malik, the chief of the banned Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). All the sentences will run concurrently.
The probing agency had demanded court to award the death penalty for Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik who was convicted in a terror funding case last week.
Officials in anti-terror agency informed that raids were conducted in Anantnag, Srinagar, Awantipora, Baramulla and some other places in connection with a case registered 10 days ago relating to radicalisation in the Indian subcontinent.
The NIA had earlier today, conducted raids in various locations in Anantnag.
