Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy on Friday said that a disputed area along the Assam- Meghalaya border is being monitored continuously and neighbouring Assam has been requested to maintain status quo.
While speaking to ANI on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests, the Governor of Meghalaya Tathagata Roy said, "A lot of tourism facilities and homestays are going vacant. I have spoken to tour operators, who said tourism has got a hit.
"I condemn the incidents of Unnao, Kathua and Surat. With equal verve, one should also condemn slaughter of 3,000 Sikhs. Why are they politicising the Unnao case?" Roy said.
A section of the local media earlier this month had reported that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had asked Chief Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan and Director General of Police Akhil Kumar Shukla not to heed Governor Roy's direction for a meeting with them.
