"The BJP government of Uttar Pradesh has made it clear that it has nothing to do with women's safety. After all, why does the complainant have to plead for security again in front of the press? Why is the UP Police sluggish? Because the accused is related to BJP?" she asked in a tweet.
Chinmayanand, who was interrogated by the SIT on Thursday night for almost seven hours, has been placed under house arrest.
Late on Thursday, the SIT interrogated the BJP leader at the reserve police lines here in Uttar Pradesh. Chinmayanand was accompanied by his lawyer Om Singh.
"My daughter had safely kept the evidence against the accused in her hostel room which was later sealed on court orders. When the Special Investigation Team (SIT) opened the seal on Sept 9, some of the evidences were missing from the room," he claimed on Thursday.
The SIT members, accompanied by forensic experts, spent nearly six hours at the hostel room to collect evidence in connection with her allegations against the former Union minister, college sources said.
The victim and her brother have claimed that if the SIT does a fair probe, this pen drive has some vital evidence against Chinmayanand. According to the victim's brother, the pen drive contains a video that is enough to expose the "real face" of the BJP leader.
"There has been an attempt to malign my image and thwart my efforts for elevating the college to the university level. I had even met the state Finance Minister in this regard and was scheduled to meet the Chief Minister. It is clear that some people do not want the college to prosper," he said.
After a bench of justices R Banumathi and A S Bopanna asked the state's counsel to apprise it as to when the woman can be produced before the court, the lawyer said that she, along with the police team, is enroute to Shahjahanpur and has reached Fatehpur Sikri.
