Rhea, Showik, Miranda, Sawant, Vilatra and Parihar are in judicial custody after their bail application was rejected by NDPS court on Friday. Arora, Lakhani and Ibrahim got bail soon after they were sent to judicial custody a week ago. Keshwani is in NCB custody till September 14.
"Bail Applications of Rhea Chakraborty and Showik fixed for hearing on 10th Sept 2020 in Spl Court Mumbai," shared her advocate Satish Maneshinde, along with a copy of the 20-page bail application.
Several filmstars including Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anurag Kashyap and Hansal Mehta, besides stars from the South such as Lakshmi Manchu, among many others lent support to Rhea. Many of them posted the "Let's smash patriarchy" lines that were printed on her T-shirt as she arrived at the NCB office on Tuesday.
After the arrest, Rhea Chakraborty was taken for medical tests including COVID-19 test to the civic-run Sion hospital in Central Mumbai. Before leaving for hospital in a vehicle with NCB officials, the actor, clad in black, waved at media persons.
"I personally have deep sympathy for the family of Sushant Singh Rajput. Rhea's arrest is a step towards justice for Sushant. The entire country wants to know the real reason behind Sushant's death," the DGP said.
Apart from her wave, Rhea Chakraborty’s T-shirt also caught a lot of attention as it had a quote saying, "Roses are red, violets are blue, let's smash the patriarchy, me and you."
In another big development in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has on Tuesday, arrested Rhea Chakraborty in its drug cartel probe. Rhea Chakraborty will be interrogated on her alleged role in the drug angle that has surfaced following Sushant's death, her brother Showik Chakraborty has already been arrested by NCB.
“The complaint is itself an offence. This is a ploy to derail and deflect the investigation. This is an attempt to keep Mumbai police alive in the case so that they can do some mischief and ensure that the family of Sushant does not get justice in this matter,” he said.
Rhea is expected to return for thethird round of quizzing on Tuesday as the NCB officials continue their painstaking investigations to unravel the drugs angle in the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The experts' view came amid Rhea Chakraborty filing a complaint with the Mumbai Police against her late boyfriend Sushant's sister Priyanka Singh and Dr Tarun Kumar of Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Delhi and others for offences of forgery, NDPS Act and Tele Medicine Practice Guidelines 2020 for having sent a "bogus" medical prescription depicting Sushant as an OPD person when he was in Mumbai on June 8.
Indrajit Chakraborty's statement came a day after his son Showik was arrested on Friday as part of the probe in actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death along with the late actor's house manager Samuel Miranda. They are in the custody of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) till September 9.
Rhea Chakraborty arrived at the agency's office in the Ballard Estate area at 12 noon. She was escorted by police personnel. The agency has said it wants to question Rhea, the main accused in the death case, to take the probe forward in the case.
The NCB team reached Rhea Chakraborty's home on Sunday morning to serve the summons of joining the investigation. The NCB has recently arrested her younger brother Showik Chakraborty, Rajput's house manager Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant, a member of the actor's personal staff, in this case.
Crying 'witch-hunt' and resigned to the possibility of arrest, actress Rhea Chakraborty appeared at the Narcotics Control Bureau office in connection with the probe into the drugs angle clouding the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, on Sunday morning. The Narcotics Control Bureau on Saturday arrested Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's domestic help Dipesh Sawant in a drug-related case, part of the ongoing probe into the death of the late actor. The NCB arrested Sawant on Saturday evening following revelations made by Showik, the brother of Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and Rajput's house manager Samuel Miranda, who were arrested on Friday night.
The NCB said that there are other instances where Parihar facilitated the drugs delivery and he was in contact with Showik. "The payment for the drugs was done by Showik to Parihar through Google Pay account," the NCB claimed.
Earlier in the day, the NCB carried out raids at a number of locations, including at the homes of Showik Chakraborty and the late actor's house manager Samuel Miranda. The NCB also took Showik and Miranda for questioning at its office after conducting searches for two hours.
An NCB source said that Parihar had connections with Miranda, who was also a close associate of Rhea. Miranda is accused of procuring drugs on the instructions of Showik Chakraborty.
On August 31, Suchitra had questioned the role of Mahesh Bhatt in the relationship between Sushant and his girlfriend Rhea. She also wanted to know whether Bhatt has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) yet for questioning in the ongoing probe.
Rhea Chakraborty and her family members are accused of abetting the suicide of Rajput (34), who was found hanging in his flat in Mumbai's Bandra area on June 14.
