SC collegium recommends elevation of Delhi HC Chief Justice Manmohan as Supreme Court judge

The SC Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on August 13 recommended the appointment of nine additional judges of the Allahabad High Court as permanent judges.
The oath was administered by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chadrachud in the newly built auditorium of the Supreme Court.
Before recommending the names of the three judicial officers to the Centre, the Collegium said it has considered the report of the Judgment Evaluation Committee, which graded the judgments authored by them as "outstanding".
The SC Collegium recommended five judicial officials Susan Valentine Pinto, Hasmukhbhai Dalsukhbhai Suthar, Jitendra Champaklal Doshi, Mangesh Rameshchandra Mengdey, and Divyeshkumar Amrutlal Joshi, to be appointed as judges of the Gujarat High Court.
Supreme Court collegium: The collegium, also having Justices SK Kaul and KM Joseph, met on February 7 (Tuesday) and recommended the name of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh for appointment as the chief justice of the Tripura High Court.
Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju asserted that no one can give a 'warning' to anyone, amid the fact the court runs by the constitution.
Supreme Court Collegium news: Justice Raja was appointed as Additional Judge of Madras High Court on March 31, 2009 and assumed charge as Acting Chief Justice from September 22, 2022.
Besides the CJI, the three-member collegium which deals with appointment in high courts includes Justices U U Lalit and A M Khanwilkar.
The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended to the Centre names of 20 advocates for their appointment as judges of the high courts of Calcutta, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The five-member Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi took the decision in its meeting on January 10 to recommend the names of justices Maheshwari and Khanna for their elevation to the Supreme Court.

While the collegium rejected the government’s referral for reconsidering his nomination, it decided not to send the referral back to the government immediately.
On May 9, Justice J Chelameswar, the senior-most judge of the apex court, had written a letter to the CJI urging him to convene the Collegium meet to urgently forward Justice Joseph’s name to the Centre.
In its last meeting on May 2, the collegium had reportedly decided to draft a point-by-point rejoinder to the Centre that questioned their choice.
On Wednesday, Justice J Chelameswar, the senior-most judge of the apex court, had written a letter to the CJI asking him to convene the Collegium’s meeting to urgently forward Justice Joseph’s name to the Centre.
Reacting on the controversy over his non-elevation as a Supreme Court judge, Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice K M Joseph on Sunday said that such an incident has never happened before.
The meeting was attended by all five judges of the collegium including Chief Justice Dipak Misra, justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph.
