The probe revealed that the stone-pelting was a result of a quarrel between one Zahir and his friends, who came to look for two other people with whom they had an argument two days back.
According to police, the scuffle took place around 11 pm on Sunday in Kotdi village, located 70 km from the district headquarters. In order to avoid any untoward incident, heavy security was deployed in the area.
Members from both the sides lodged police complaints, based on which a case was registered against some persons under Indian Penal Code Sections 294 (obscene act), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation), the official said.
