A loco pilot was injured after miscreants pelted stones at a freight train near Kusumkasa village in Balod, Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred while the train was en route from Dallirajahara to Bhilai. Authorities are investigating the case, and the condition of the pilot is stable.
Karnataka's Nagamangala Deputy SP Sumeet was suspended for dereliction of duty following a stone-pelting incident during a Ganesh procession. Meanwhile, Maharashtra police arrested 15 people for stone-pelting during a similar festival clash in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
This was the second stone-pelting attack on Vande Bharat trains within 24 hours. Investigations are underway in both cases.
The protest march was called by Sakal Hindu Samaj, an umbrella organisation of several small groups, in Maharashtra's Nashik and Jalgaon on Friday. The police soon diffused the situation and are on high alert.
The conflict erupted on Monday when a group protested against animal sacrifice, leading to stone-pelting by another group. Authorities, including Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar, are on-site, with around 30 arrests made. All commercial establishments remain closed.
