Prime Minister Narendra Modi innaugrated the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world, on the occasion of Vallabhbhai Patel’s 143rd birth anniversary.
Apart from the Patel bronze figure, other major attractions include inauguration of a 17-km-long Valley of flowers, a Tent City for tourists near the statue and a museum dedicated to the life and times of Patel.
Lavishing praise on Patel for uniting over 500 princely states as India attained independence, Modi also made a pitch for the dream of 'One India, Superior India'.
