The incident was reported at 9 am when an Army man belonging to the Rashtriya Rifle unit was entering the airport premises. The staff of Air Asia airlines detected the hand grenade in the Check-in luggage of the passenger.
A gas cylinder explosion is expected to be the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames.
Commenting on the encounter, police said Natish Wani alias Haider was a resident of Khanyar, Srinagar. Wani joined terror ranks a week ago.
