20 people have died after consuming spurious liquor in Siwan, the police said on Thursday. RJD slammed Nitish Kumar government, holding him responsible for the deaths.
Punjab news: A four-member SIT headed by ADGP (law and order) Gurinder Singh Dhillon to supervise the investigations. DIG (Patiala Range) Harcharan Bhullar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur, Sartaj Chahal, and Additional Commissioner (Excise) Naresh Dubey will be part of SIT.
Three people tragically lost their lives after consuming poisonous liquor in Gujjaran village, located under the jurisdiction of the Dirba police station in Sangrur district, Punjab.
Sitamarhi liquor deaths: Around 90 bottles of liquor were also recovered from the possession of the accused, police said. Sale and consumption of alcohol was banned in Bihar by the Nitish Kumar government in 2016.
Haryana news: During the probe, police got information from two villages in the district that three other people were cremated on Tuesday (November 7) and two more on Wednesday (November 8).
Bihar illicit liquor: “After my grandson Anshu Paswan consumed liquor he is not well. I have informed the local police. The situation of my grandson is critical and he is admitted to GMCH Bettiah. Two persons from my village have died so far,” said Prabhawati Devi, the grandmother of a victim.
Bihar liquor deaths: The deceased have been identified as Gauri Shankar Ram, an ex-Army jawan from Ghograha Barriya village, and Umesh Patel, a native of Dhawahi village.
Tamil Nadu Hooch Tragedy: The case relating to deaths due to the consumption of spurious liquor in the Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts of Tamil Nadu has been transferred to CB-CID.
